5 Tips to Create an Effective Facebook Ad

On average, Facebook is home to 1.4 billion daily active users. However, connecting with the Facebook community from a marketing standpoint isn't always easy. Now that there's a new algorithm in town, marketers are scrambling to figure out how to reach their consumers organically.

What they don't realize, is that spending a little cash can get them a long way. Facebook stated the new algorithm won't affect paid posts on the platform, although CPM rates for Facebook ads may eventually increase, according to agency executives. But time and time again, Facebook remains the most popular social media advertising channel, with 93 percent of social media advertisers using Facebook ads.

But I'm not here to talk about the algorithm, we can save that for another day. I'm here to give you tips to step up your Facebook ad game.

  1. Make Sure it's Visual
Images account for 75-90 percent of Facebook advertising effectivity and performance. Visual content is also more likely to be shared and remembered and it's also more favorable in the Facebook algorithm. Basically, an effective ad must have an effective visual.

Your visual should take up a majority of the screen, feature your product or service, and showcase a bold background to attract attention. If you're using text, make sure it's simple and easy to read.

  2. Text Should be Simple & Brief
Your ad should catch the consumer's attention, not sell the product. Users don't want to read paragraphs and full product descriptions. They want to immediately know what you're selling, what your product or service will do for them, and how it's different from anything on the market.

    Think about it this way:
    - Ad Title should be 4 words
    - Link Description should be 15 words

  3. Clear Call-To-Action
Now that you have created the ideal Facebook ad, it won't be effective unless you tell them where to go. That's where clear call-to-action (CTA) can come in handy! Tell your users you want them to click, download or call today. Feel free to get creative with your CTA since it takes up precious text. The more creative, the bigger reason to pursue your product or service.
  4. Scale Your Ad-Targeting
Find your ideal customer by using Facebook's most effective targeting tool, Facebook Lookalike Audiences. It takes all of the data points of your source audience and finds new, similar people using a set percentage sample of the population in your chosen country. This gives you more control by allowing you to create the source audience, and it's best used to target new cold audiences at the top of your sales funnel.
  5. Track Visitors
Consider using Facebook Pixel, a piece of powerful code you place on the backend of your website to track visitors to your site and allows you to run highly targeting campaigns. Make sure to install it before running Facebook ads! Facebook Pixel helps you learn more about the people engaging with your content. This valuable information can lead to creating products and content that better appeal to that audience.

There's a variety of ways to optimize your Facebook ads. Creating a visual and actionable ad, testing, and tracking will get your better results from your Facebook advertisement.
